Getting the most out of your consultation.

When considering any procedure you should ensure that you have all the information you to need to be able to NZCAM_1make an informed decision.

Concentrate on the areas you would like your NZCAM doctor to address. There is likely to be a number of different procedures that could be applied to achieve the desired result you are seeking.

Do not be afraid to ask questions. Make sure that you have a very clear understanding of the procedure and what results you should expect. Ask your doctor what alternative procedures  there are for you to consider. Your doctor will be happy to answer all your questions as they want you to be fully informed and confident. Your questions will also guide your doctor into understanding your expectations.

All procedures, whether it is an operation or minor non-surgical procedure can carry an element of risk. It is important that you discuss this with your doctor and you understand any risks to the procedure you are considering. Some risks are very minor such as bruising or redness. Others may involve specific advice. Your doctor will explain these risks and offer you guidance to minimise and manage any risks.

NZCAM2In many cases your doctor may show you before and after photos of the procedure you are contemplating or that they are recommending to you.

Before you proceed with any procedure you need to ask yourself:
• Am I confident in my doctor?
• Am I confident in having this procedure?
• Am I happy with the arrangements made for me to reach my desired result?
• Have I had all my questions answered?
• Do I understand any risks and potential complications with this procedure?
